i could have sworn at one time you told me you were not a fisherman.

good job

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

We had a great trip, one bad part was not looking the night before for the freaking updated closure....  Drove all the way to Chinook to find out they lifted the last day of retention.  Man, I see why some of you get frustrated on the F & G here.  Set something and quit changing it when the wind blows...   Anyhow we decided, we'd rather fish for something to eat than a high hardily hello and goodbye.  So we headed up hwy #30, found a couple places to launch, some better than others for sure, we finally hit the water about two hours later than we wanted but, still managed to find an area and did pretty good.  Question for anyone:  Where is a spot to buy fresh bait in Longview area??????  I kind of like that area, makes for shorter trip and we got into some good fish...  Some more exploring soon.....  One day I'll finally make the Bonnelville dam for those Monsters?  Anyone have some experiance in those biggens, now that retention is over till Oct or something like that???  Besides, I think Ray is getting to the point he needs to be challenged for 80 -100 foot anchor pulls.....  Oh by the way, ask him his new call sign,  or soon to be call sign.......  He is growing his hair out too from what I hear......

Great pics, I missed the first batch but went back and checked them out. Looks like you know your sturgeon spots. Headed down to the Columbia this week, not for fishing but I might try for a steelie or salmon from shore if I have time.

The sturgeon are a tasty fish for sure. Jack, I don't fish. I am just the anchor boy and photographer.

Are you driving through Longview on Ocean Beach Highway or heading South on I-5, or launching in town?

http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&oe=utf8&q=bait+shops&near=Longview,+WA&fb=1&dtab=2&reviews=1&cid=6190192338368647547&li=lmd&z=14&t=m

This was the go to place for your outdoor needs when I lived there, but a lot of minimarts and stores would carry fresh bait as well.  However, I don't know if they sell live baitfish.  I only fished one summer for Sturgeon and we put in on the Oregon side and bought the bait at the dock.

tlbradford- Thanks for info, I'll be giving them a call.

My wife said it was time to get a hair cut but I didn't believe her till now....  Guess I'm going to have to come up with some groovy hand shake or flash a sign for now on, just hopefully I don't have to change my name to Homey-Ho now....

In all seriousness, are folks still interested in having a Sturgeon fishing trip/Camping get together before the bounties of the fall consume all of us???
